Affordable Accomodation

Houghton’s Bush Camp is laid out to suit the needs of a wide range of visitors, including families, business teams, interest groups and schools. And best of all, your group has exclusive use of the entire camp for the length of your stay. Campers bring their own pillow, bed linen/sleeping bags, cutlery, cup and plates.

  • Thirteen comfortable bunkrooms, heated in winter, each sleeping up to six people
  • Separate male and female shower/toilet areas, with covered access from bunkrooms
  • Full paraplegic ablution facilities
  • Separate ‘cooks’ quarters that includes: beds for up to six people in two rooms, first aid room that can sleep two people, own shower/toilet area
  • Mall lounge/meeting room, an ideal quiet or private space as required
  • Covered walkways throughout

Catering

You can choose to prepare your own meals or employ the services of a catering company. It’s up to you. There is also a local takeaway food outlet, a small grocery shop and the Waimauku Shopping Centre is just nine kilometres away. For details of recommended caterers see Contact.

Activity Structures

The following facilities are available at no extra charge. For safety reasons some may only be used under adult supervision.

Paintball and horse-riding are not onsite facilities, please utilise our preferred adventure operator Bigfoot Adventures.

  • Large hall and dining area to accommodate everyone; includes stackable chairs, folding tables, wooden floors, a roll-out carpet and winter heating
  • Sheltered central courtyard garden with BBQs and outdoor seating
  • Well-designed and carefully maintained confidence course, playground, climbing wall, co-operative challenges area and night-time Burma trail
